Ellwood House is a splendid stone built self-catering holiday cottage on the edge of Caldbeck village in the Northern Fells of the Lake District National Park. Located in an elevated position, with views of the open Caldbeck Fells from the rear of the house. High Pike can be seen immediately due south of the cottage in the picturesque expanse known colloquially as 'back o'Skiddaw'. Just 100 yards across the field below you will find Gill Beck which runs through the village with a footpath just behind. Dating back to the 18th century, Ellwood House has retained much of its "olde worlde" charm but with every modern day convenience. With bedrooms upstairs for up to six people with plenty of space, a great house bathroom (recently upgraded), open fire and a quiet secluded rear garden with an adjoining barn providing ample secure storage for mountain bikes, etc.

Keswick is only 20 minutes drive away, as is Carlisle. This truly is a special place to relax and spend some time in beautiful and peaceful surroundings! Lovingly restored over several years, there are now 3 bedrooms, 1 en-suite bathroom and 1 shower room, sitting room, Inglenook room and kitchen, all retaining many of their original features. Stone slab floors, timber beams and open fires are all part of the High Houses experience. The views towards Scotland are quite breathtaking, with the house being in the middle of a 400 acre farm, surrounded by fell and farmland and is in the heart of John Peel Hunting Country. Situated down a 1/2 mile private driveway, at the rear of a Grade 2 Listed Coach House, these two tasteful properties, complete with quality equipment and furnishings, offer excellent self catering accommodation away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist centres of the Lakes and yet are within easy reach of Bassenthwaite, Keswick, Cockermouth, Carlisle and the whole of the Lake District.
