High Houses is a special and unusual place to stay. Brimming with ambience created by the history, architecture, situation and original features. Built in 1669, this Cumbrian farmhouse is perched aloft a hillside in the Northern Fells, not far from the villages of Ireby, Uldale and Caldbeck, and only 5 miles from Bassenthwaite Lake. Keswick is only 20 minutes drive away, as is Carlisle. This truly is a special place to relax and spend some time in beautiful and peaceful surroundings! Lovingly restored over several years, there are now 3 bedrooms, 1 en-suite bathroom and 1 shower room, sitting room, Inglenook room and kitchen, all retaining many of their original features. Stone slab floors, timber beams and open fires are all part of the High Houses experience. The views towards Scotland are quite breathtaking, with the house being in the middle of a 400 acre farm, surrounded by fell and farmland and is in the heart of John Peel Hunting Country. Excellent walking is available right on your doorstep in this beautiful part of the northern Lake District. Sleeps up to 8 people.

We have two cottages ideally situated close to the centre of Ambleside and all the town has to offer. Shepherds Fold is a two-bedroom (one twin, one double) cottage located in the conservation area and offering comfortable accommodation for four people. High View is a stone-built Victorian house offering comfortable accommodation for six people. It provides a perfect base for a family holiday with three bedrooms (one Queen, one double, one twin), two bathrooms and a large dining kitchen. Both properties have quality furniture and colour-co-ordinated soft furnishings and and the kitchens include fully integrated appliances and quality cookware, crockery and cutlery. Flat screen televisions, DVD players and CD/radio players are also provided. The cottages are ideally located on quiet lanes with very limited through traffic and within a 3-minute stroll from all the restaurants and shops.

Situated within walking distance of Cockermouth, High Moor Cottage offers comfortable and stylish accommodation for couples and small families. Cockermouth is a great starting point to explore the Lake District being within easy access of the quieter, western side yet having all the comforts and ease of the services Cockermouth has to offer with its supermarket, butcher, baker, cafes, pubs, restaurants and cinema. Loweswater Lake is High Moor's nearest lake with lovely woodland walks and a tranquil escape from day to day living. For the more energetic, Skiddaw is one of the highest mountains in the Lake District and is a fifteen minute drive away. Or Keswick is twenty minutes away with its busy centre and Derwentwater Lake which has rowing boats, self drive motor boats and the launch.

In the pretty village of Yanwath, Gate Cottage offers stylish self catering accommodation for up to four people. Yanwath is an ideal starting point for exploring the Lake District and Eden Valley. The cottage is just three miles from the M6 and its nearest lake is Ullswater (4 miles) – a lake of sublime natural beauty against a backdrop of breathtaking mountain scenery. The cottage features bespoke kitchen, contemporary bathroom and spacious and comfortable bedrooms and living room. For catering in the cottage, Penrith and neighbouring villages offer farmers markets, farm shops and the award winning, Cranstons. For guests who prefer the more hands off approach, simply come downstairs to the Yanwath Gate Inn - "Cumbrian Dining Pub of the Year" (The Good Pub Guide 2007 & 2009) where you will find a warm welcome, relaxed atmosphere and superb food.
