Our beautiful country house was built in 1899 as the six-bedroomed retreat of a Victorian Gentleman. Nestling in almost three acres of natural secluded gardens, in the heart of the English Lake District at Bowness on Windermere, it enjoys a truly superb elevated location.
The Hotel was founded in 1971 and has already celebrated its Silver Jubilee under the same family ownership.

The Craig Manor Hotel nestles on the brow of a hill overlooking Lake Windermere, Langdale Pikes and surrounding mountains in the English Lake District. Just a short stroll from the front door is the village of Bowness with its pubs, shops, cafes and museum. Guests can walk to the lake shore and maybe take a cruise to nearby Ambleside. After a day exploring the beautiful Lake District guests can relax and enjoy a fabulous four course meal in our restaurant followed by drinks in our lounge areas. Our restaurant, lounges and some bedrooms enjoy superb views of the surrounding area including Lake Windermere and Langdale Pikes. This 4-star property, located in the picturesque town of Windermere, is set in a quiet area just off Church Street, within walking distance of the train station, shops and restaurants. Wheatlands Lodge is a traditional family owned and run Lake District residence, dating from around 1860 set in delightful gardens. The property has recently undergone a total refurbishment in 2007, introducing contemporary style, yet still retaining many of its original features. This friendly lodge has the benefit of free on-site parking which is unique to this area, considering the short walking distance to the main attractions of Lake Windermere.
