Internet and Free WFI available Carlisle is an excellent stop off point if you are travelling to or returning from Scotland but there is also much to do and see in and around the historic Great Border City.You will find yourself at the centre of historical England where Celts, Romans, King Arthur and Bonnie Prince Charlie have all left their mark.This all contrasts beautifully with a vibrant modern day city where the cathedral and castle sit along side some fantastic shops,bars,cafe's and multicultral restaurants.We are happy to advise on places to visit and to eat we will if you wish make a reservation on you behalf.

Above the Bay is situated overlooking Bowness Bay and Lake Windermere. All rooms are en-suite with lake views and have a private patio door entrance. The patio doors lead onto a west facing balcony with magnificent views and all rooms have sun recliners. This balcony is what we believe gives Above the Bay its own special WOW factor! Bowness village is a 3 min stroll away via a short cut down through the front garden. Full English breakfast is included and vegetarians and special diets are most welcome. Our spacious car park provides safe off road parking and most local facilities are within walking distance. Our guests also benefit from free entrance to the private Burnside Leisure Centre just 200 metres away where they can enjoy swimming, sauna, steam room, sun beds, pool table and bistro bar. Old Daltongate House is a Grade 2 listed townhouse built in 1654 by a prominent local Quaker family from nearby Swarthmoor Hall. It is now a luxury bed and breakfast establishment. We have 4 well appointed bedrooms with flatscreen tv and wi-fi access plus a guest lounge and dining room which is available to guests in the evening. You can be assured of a warm welcome at Old Daltongate House. Ulverston is a historic market town a mere 15 minutes from the delights of the Lake District and nestles on the shores of Morecambe Bay. The town has many festivals including the Flag Festival, Walking Festival, Dickensian and Charter Festival which includes the famous Lantern Procession. From Ulverston you can visit the Peninsula's prime tourist attractions including the much acclaimed South Lakes Wildlife Park plus the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway and of course Ulverston is the childhood home of Stan Laurel and you can visit the museum and new statue, both of which are a short stroll away from the house.

It is a Robinsons brewery but does stock guest beers.Activities within the vicinity are Pony Trecking from Tirril, Alternative Coast to Coast Route, Golf in Penrith, sailing and canoeing on the lake.
