Holly Lodge is a charming single story holiday cottage located in the Eden Valley on the edge of the historic market town of Appleby in Cumbria - the former capital of Westmorland. Built in about 1850, this Cumbrian cottage has stunning views from the garden of High Cup Nick and Cross Fell in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our "dog friendly" holiday cottage is located in the spacious grounds of The Hollies, a former gentleman's residence. The cottage itself was built as a museum by the second owner to house his big game hunting trophies and his billiards table. Our cottage is an ideal relaxing retreat with the Pennine hills and Pennine Way nearby, it is perfect for those who desire a walking holiday. The Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales are only a short drive away - Ullswater 15 miles, Kirkby Stephen 10 miles - a good central location for touring the area. We have a wonderful variety of garden and woodland birds in our 3 acres of garden and woodland. Wild flowers abound in our spring and summer flower meadows, together with our large pond at the end of the garden, teeming with wildlife and with stunning views of North Pennines. Red squirrels are also seen feeding in the garden on a regular basis. The town of Appleby is only a short walk away with its shops, traditional inns and good restaurants. For the more active there is also a public swimming pool, gym and sports hall available. Other local activities include pony trekking, golf and fly fishing. A warm Cumbrian welcome awaits you at Holly Lodge holiday cottage.

Irton Hall is a stunning holiday location with impressive history, set in the foothills of the Western fells of the Lake District between Wasdale and Eskdale. Parts of the magnificent Hall, such as the Pele Tower, date from the 14th century. Broughton House forms the west wing of Irton Hall, where spacious elegant rooms, chandeliers and a grand staircase with stained glass windows make this a dream holiday venue. Copeland is the centre section of the Hall, next to the original Pele Tower, and what was once an 18th century ballroom is now the very spacious lounge/dining room. The marble floors, tall ceilings and chandeliers create an opulent holiday environment. Both Oliver Cromwell and Henry VI visited the Hall, although it is reputed that Henry VI was refused entry and spent the night under the 1000 year old oak tree in front of the house, known as ‘The King’s Oak’.
